Welcome to our new website
A hearty welcome to our new website. Here we’ll share the discovered history of this special part of the world. We invite you, the interested reader, to click “Home”, explore each page and to share your thoughts, comments, ideas and questions with us.
Of particular interest to the first-time visitor — and therefore a good space to begin — may be the page labelled Havelock History. Here you’ll find many links to all sorts of information about Havelock, Cherry Point and New Bern. Our interests include the counties of Craven, Pamlico and Carteret in particular. We talk about the Marine Corps, the Civil War, settlers, old timers and where other information can be found. There are printable maps that can be stand-alone resources for use in local exploration and study, but they also illustrate locations described in the first book of Havelock history, In This Small Place.
We encourage you to check back from time-to-time as we’ll add new content on a regular basis. In addition, another way to stay updated is through the Facebook logo at the bottom of the page. We invite you click that button to visit the Edward Ellis/Author Facebook page. If you’ll “Like” it and connect it to your own social media, you’ll be reminded about future additions, and you’ll also be presented with some special tid-bits and items of interest created especially for the Facebook page.
Now …. we have a special request for each of you.
The reason we do this work is because of a strong belief that our heritage should be preserved, shared and enjoyed. We fervently hope that everyone with ties to our communities will be entertained and educated by the incredible tales of this local history. We expect also this information will be useful to teachers and to students of all levels.
With that in mind we encourage each of you to help spread the word about both this new website and the Facebook page tied to it. Please invite your friends and encourage others to connect to these resources.
Many, many people have generously contributed to the collection of this body of knowledge and now we’ve been fortunate enough to have gathered a brilliant team of technical experts, our gurus of the worldwide web, who’ll help us make it pretty, readable and fun.
So explore. Come back often. Tell your friends. Give us feedback. Enjoy!
